One in the absolute biggest mistakes that new kayakers make is choosing to start in a slim, sleek and sexy kayak. The sleek kayak is intended for speed simple fact can provide many exciting thrills it is also typically very unstable. For a new kayaker this means usually rolling head first into drinking water.

Beginner’s Error.
I took a friend out paddling one time many years ago. We were in Deep Cove in Vancouver, B.C. and rented kayaks for the day with our destination as a little island not past the boundary out. Got kayaked frequently before but for my friend it was his occasion. Being his period out and being an athletic kind of a guy, he wanted the fastest boat at one’s disposal. As we had been renting the kayaks I decided that although have vehicle insurance from life experience. After a very brief verbal lesson we hit the water with our destination in sight. I noticed quickly that buddy was an extremely hassle controlling his kayak. Seemed he would get the concept of it pretty quick though and paddled along my significantly. Within minutes I had covered an honest distance and realized that my friend was nowhere in glance. After a quick panic sensation I soon burst into uncontrollable giggles because i realized that his kayak had rolled and all I often see was his head bobbing in water. Laughing so hard I could barely paddle I watched as a speed boat came to his rescue, hauled his embarrassed butt into their boat and helped him to get the water associated with his raft.
Although my friend’s kayaking experience proved not in order to become a good one, it was by far one on the funniest kayaking trips That i have ever had. His deflated ego paddled soaking wet onto our destination where we then switched kayaks. He then paddled the beginner kayak back to shore with no other troubles.
His mistake though a natural for first time kayakers likewise be very dangerous. Though I the great laugh out of it, the reality is that it perhaps have been dangerous and disastrous had buddy hurt himself or been somewhere where help had not been close at the time of.
Lesson come to understand.
The lesson was definitely learned in this instance. as a beginner kayaker its not was required to be the quickest boat within the water. The trick is to obtain a stable kayak and learn essentials before you progress on towards the speed.
